Hot on the heels of their Best Overall Lineup win in the 2021 Readers’ Choice Awards, the We Knife Co. crew is at SHOT Show in Vegas, showing off the first batch of 2022 models for both the main and Civivi lines.
As is often the case with what we see at SHOT, the following knives are all prototypes and subject to change. That caveat aside, it’s a pretty exciting batch of blades, with star-studded collaborations, line expansions, and a varied selection of locking mechanisms all on display in the tight eight-knife lineup.
Vision R
Knife mechanism nerds, get ready: the Vision R is the latest production collaboration from SNECX Tan, the engineering wiz who gave us the IFS-20, a knife that goes together without a single screw. The Vision R features the spine-riding Superlock, a lock that Tan designed and that, until now, has only been available on a handful of customs from the man himself and, in a modified version, on the Sandrin Knives Torino.
Press Check
Allen Elishewitz makes his We Knife Co. collaboration debut with this high-end flipper. The Press Check comes with either a tanto or a drop point blade, but either way the length is the same: 3.17 inches. We’ve seen the Press Check in a blackout color scheme, as well as a satin-finish version with blue accents.
Malice Button Lock
Although the frame lock Ferrum Forge/We Malice collaboration has come and gone, it looks like they’ve now got a button lock version queued up. Other than the swapped mechanism, the Malice BL looks more or less the same as its predecessor, with a 3-inch drop point blade and flipper deployment.
Curvaceous
The Curvaceous certainly lives up to its name, sporting a sinuous tanto trailing point blade a pistol grip-esque handle. A canted titanium bolster and Micarta scales round (pun intended) out the package in style.
Shudder
Despite the spooky name, there’s nothing to be scared about here – unless trailing point blades give you the willies, because this knife has a classic example of the form. The handle has a faux bolster but is full titanium, and the weight is 4.75 oz.
Unnamed Prototype
This thus-far nameless knife is another mid-size flipper, albeit with a drop point blade. The full ti scales are chamfered all the way around, with a backspacer-combination-lanyard loop on the butt end.
Orthrus
This is a dedicated tactical fixed blade designed Tony Sentmanat, he of Realworld Tactical and Call of Duty famae. The dagger-grind 3.75-inch blade could be loosely described as a tanto, embellished with a vicious double recurve and a set of big serrations underneath.
Conspirator
Like the Malice BL, the Conspirator is workhorse with a button lock, albeit one designed by the in-house crew and situated in the Civivi line, with material choices suited to that budget-conscious label.
