Walther Announces the PDP Pro SD – Shot Show 2022

At SHOT Show 2022, Walther released its PDP Pro SD featuring a threaded barrel, dynamic performance trigger, optic cut with recoil lugs, and aluminum magwell in both compact and full-size variants. This pistol feels great in my hands and includes all of the modern features consumers demand.

Right from the factory, the PDP Pro SD is suppressor-ready utilizing a threaded barrel. Firing a few rounds through it at Range Day this pistol seemed to be plenty accurate.

While form is not a one-size-fits-all feature, the Pro SD’s frame has a great contour and texturing to fit my hands well. The “SuperTerrain Slide Serrations” are deep enough to get positive friction for racking the slide.

The included Dynamic Performance Trigger shoots great. It provides a clean break and a very short reset. Walther’s upgraded trigger safety bar is thin and aesthetically pleasing. Holes were added to reduce weight.

Including a large flared magwell on top of the already slightly flared frame, the PDP Pro SD will really help users achieve those consistent and lightning-fast reloads. While nothing beats training and skill, features like a flared magwell will help when speed matters and dexterity is lacking. 

The full-sized model includes a 5.1″ threaded barrel and 4.5″ slide, while the compact version has a 4.6″ threaded barrel and a 4″ slide. Both options come from the factory with three 10-round magazines (limited markets), or three 15-round mags for the compact version and three 18-round mags for the full-sized frame. 

The Walther PDP Pro will be available in March of 2022 and purchasers will have two options to choose from, each coming in at the same MSRP of $829.
