Gerald Willey, Founding father of Willey Knives, Passes Away

The American Knife & Software Institute extends our honest sympathies to the household of Gerald Willey.

W. Gerald Willey of Greenwood handed away Sunday, July 24, 2022, at his residence surrounded by his household, who he deeply liked and who liked him.  Gerald was born in Milford to the late Walter James and Lelia Willey.

Gerald served his nation proudly within the U.S Navy throughout the Vietnam Battle.  He served as a Navy cook dinner, which he completely liked, and carried that love for cooking with him for the remainder of his life.  After his discharge, he labored as a civilian as a cook dinner and food plan tech at Dover Air Drive Base Hospital.

In 1970, Gerald began Willey Knives, Greenwood, Delaware, which is now the biggest cutlery retailer in Delaware.  It’s a household endeavor and can proceed to be operated by daughter Geri and son Matthew, providing a big number of knife manufacturers.

In his youthful days, Gerald liked to shoot pool and shoot weapons.  He loved strolling across the seaside and loved packing up the household each Saturday night time to stroll the boardwalk.  He liked to inform tales, particularly about his days within the Navy.  Above all, he liked his household and his church, Church of God of Prophecy in Seaford.  His household was at all times his precedence.  The purchasers on the store have been like his second household, and he liked every considered one of them; and his abilities and choice have been at all times sought out.  He was a staple for years within the surrounding areas for native eating places offering sharpening providers for all their cutlery.  Gerald genuinely liked working within the store and making knives.  He was at all times properly liked and revered by all who knew him, and he can be perpetually missed.

Along with his mother and father, Gerald is preceded in loss of life by his spouse, Sylvia Willey.

He’s survived by his daughter, Geri Elliott; son, Matthew (Stefanie) Willey; grandchildren, Gracie Elliott, Religion Elliott, Bryce Willey, Rachael (Ty) Brief, Howie (Paris) Hammond and Megean Sluter; brother, Steve (Brenda) Willey; and prolonged household.
