Since before the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian Warfare in late February Russian authorities sources have broadly claimed that the Ukrainian Army has benefitted from help from mercenary models from Western-aligned states, most notably Poland, Georgia and the Baltic States. These allegations come amid rising revelations from Western sources relating to the roles performed each by Western personnel and intelligence agents on the ground in Ukraine, in addition to the presence of army contractors whose deployments have been financed by Western governments. Russian intelligence estimates for the variety of mercenaries killed embody 99 Polish, 36 Canadian, 33 Romanian and 21 U.S. residents and additional deaths from each NATO and non-NATO states.
