150mm challenge
I eased myself into 2019 with my contribution to the #150mmchallenge. This exercise is something has originated out the Artist Blacksmithing BA degree course at Hereford Art college. It’s beautifully simple and involves making anything you want, primarily forged, from one length of 150mm 20mm square steel. The finished pieces can be submitted and will be on display as part of the Ferrous festival in Hereford this spring.
My rather unassuming piece has take all morning and 2 attempts to get what I wanted. I was after a form that was very simple yet technically complex. A piece that echoed the transformative nature of forging as well as referencing the parent material. Had fun making this, great little challenge.
